Siksika Health Services is a not-for-profit organization which provides Primary Care and Community Wellness support. POSITION SUMMARY

Responses a team member to combat fires, assist in rescues; motor vehicle and otherwise; and performs related duties that will protect the lives and property within the boundaries of the Siksika Nation.

Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:

• Follow orders and directives given by senior officers.

• Conduct themselves in a diligent and professional manner while on scene as per SOP’s.

• To assist in medical aid situations.

• To control and mitigate any further damage and dollar loss at any given emergency incident.

• Report any safety concerns within the community.

  MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  Education and Experience:

• Education: minimum grade 10 with basic reading and writing skills

• Experience: no previous experience is required, but all related fire/medical training would be an asset; successful candidates will have the NFPA 1001 Standard for the Professional Firefighter. (Copies of related certificates should be made upon demand)

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required, Valid Class 3 or 4 Drivers License would be an asset.

• Must be physically fit.

• Being fluent in the Blackfoot language would be an asset.

• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work as a member of a team.

  Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ensure that time sheets are filled out properly and signed by employee.

• Ensure vehicle logs are filled out as per policy.

• Gather required information to fill out incident, fire, casualty and MVA, forms if directed by senior officer as per SOP’s.

• Ensure promptness and commitment in personal conduct while on shift as per SOP’s.

• Participate in any on site training and be able to travel to participate in any job-training.

  Requirements:

• Provide a medical clearance, then pass a job/task related physical test.

• Upon completion of the written and physical exams, then the successful candidates will be granted an interview.
